We are proud to announce that the RIVRT research team has been awarded the Gold Medal at the Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions (AEII) 2025, held in Hong Kong from 4–5 December 2025. The award was granted by an international jury in recognition of our project:

“Intelligent Driving Training and Evaluation System for Heavy-Duty Trucks.”

About the Award

AEII is a well-established international innovation exhibition that brings together cutting-edge inventions from universities, research institutes, and industry worldwide. All submissions are rigorously evaluated by an international jury panel based on technological novelty, practical impact, and innovation potential. Receiving the Gold Medal represents the highest level of recognition at the exhibition.

The official medal certificate, issued by Inventions Hong Kong, confirms that the project was examined and unanimously selected for the Gold Award by the jury.

We were honored to welcome the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong, to our booth. During his visit, Professor Sun Dong engaged with our team and explored the innovative projects being displayed. We are proud to announce that RIVRT’s startup, Vcare, was showcased at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s (PolyU) InnoTech Open Day × Alumni Homecoming 2024. Held on October 19, 2024, this annual flagship event brought together innovators, alumni, and industry leaders to celebrate PolyU’s remarkable advancements in innovation, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Among the exciting innovations exhibited, our startup Vcare presented its revolutionary Vision Training VR Device, designed to offer personalized vision correction training for individuals suffering from myopia, amblyopia, and strabismus. The device leverages immersive virtual reality (VR) technology integrated with cutting-edge patented microelectromechanical (MEMS) lens modules. It provides users with tailored training routines, helping improve vision correction outcomes through an engaging and interactive experience.

Personalizing Vision Correction with Vcare

The Vcare Vision Training VR Device is a standalone, user-friendly system that adapts to individual visual needs. By offering a non-invasive, customizable approach, it has the potential to transform vision therapy for common conditions like myopia and amblyopia. The device is already garnering attention for its innovative application of VR in healthcare, and its showcase at the InnoTech Open Day was met with enthusiastic feedback from event attendees, including industry experts and healthcare professionals.

RIVRT recently welcomed a group of enthusiastic secondary school mentees to the Integrated Product Design (IPD) Laboratory at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) on 22 Jul, 2024. The visit provided the mentees with a unique opportunity to explore and experience the latest advancements in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Metaverse.

The visit was part of an ongoing mentorship program aimed at inspiring young students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The mentees, eager to learn about the practical applications of these emerging technologies, were guided through a series of interactive demonstrations and hands-on activities.

One of the key highlights of the visit was the VR setup, where mentees donned VR headsets and were transported into immersive digital environments. They engaged in various simulations, allowing them to understand how VR can be used for training, education, and product design.

The students also explored AR and MR technologies, which blend digital information with the real world, providing a rich, interactive experience. They were particularly fascinated by the potential of these technologies in fields such as architecture, engineering, and medical training.

AI and the Metaverse were also major points of interest during the visit. The mentees were introduced to AI-driven applications and discussed the growing importance of AI in automating processes, enhancing decision-making, and creating intelligent systems. They also delved into the concept of the Metaverse, learning how it represents the future of interconnected virtual worlds and the potential it holds for social interaction, commerce, and entertainment.
